Analyse the front covers for both GQ and Saga magazines commenting on:
Visual codes
Layout and design
Language and mode of address
In Saga magazine the main character on the font cover is Michael Caine who is dressed in a suit to look like a business man his pose is just hands in him pockets he looks innocent in this piece and his is an elderly man and almost looks scared at what he is looking at, this goes with the collum that is just to the right of him saying, 'There was crime when I was growing up. But I cant remember old people being terrified to go out'. He is also stood in a dirty background as if he is literally just stand some where in a street (not a professional photoshoot). Where in GQ magazine the main character is Clint Eastwood and he is dressed in all denim with his top buttons undone to make him look rough and ready his pose is quiet 'macho' like he is highly ranked where ever he is or at what he does, his hands giving the illusion that he is thinking of something is great depth, his facial expressions are quiet angry almost to say 'don't come near me or i will hurt you', this corresponds with the article in the top right corner of the cover saying 'BADASS OF THE YEAR Clint Eastwood' badass of the year is written in bold to catch your attention and under that is says Clint Eastwood in smaller font not in bold. This is almost like they doubt that Clint Eastwood is actually the badass of the year. The layout of the cover of Saga magazine Is quite plain with Micheal Caine standing in the centre of the page as the main subject of the page with about 7 little piece of text around him (all in the same size font) may they be about different articles in the magazine or the magazines name. The picture of Micheal Caine does no go over the pieces of text spreed around the page and the pieces of text do not over lap the picture except from the pug directly next to the picture which is related to the article that Micheal Caine is in the magazine saying 'MICHEAL CAINE the actor returns to the mean streets of his childhood - and doesn't like what he sees' Micheal Caine is written in bold which is showing him off as he is a very famous actor whom has been in allot of very famous films. Where in the GQ magazine Clint Eastwood is in a similar place on the page with again pieces of text scattered all around him in different colour and different font sizes, with him over lapping on the magazine title and pieces of texts over lapping on him almost suggesting that the pieces of text overlapping him (And our obsession of the year) is more important than the most famous wild west character known.
